Potent Antimicrobial

Our Manuka Oil has quite low levels of Pinenes and Myrcene but high levels of Flavesone, Isoleptospermone and Leptospermone. This combination gives a high level of antimicrobial activity, particularly against gram positive organisms such as staphylococcus and streptococcus. It also has a wide range of antifungal activity, and is even more gentle on skin.

We offer "East Cape Chemotype" Manuka Oil steam distilled from wild growing Leptospermum Scoparium.

Within the species of Manuka are nine different chemotypes. Note that only East Cape Chemotype Manuka has potent antimicrobial characteristics. Oil from a Manuka tree growing in the Te Araroa region of the East Cape of New Zealand has potent antimicrobial characteristics and shows a much higher antibacterial activity than oil from Manuka trees in other regions. Also, due to a unique steam distillation method, a much highter Tiketone level is achieved.
